While the box office is generally the least expensive way to obtain tickets to an event, availability can be severely limited by season ticket holders, long lines at popular on-sales and limitations on the number of seats one individual can purchase at a time. Additionally, a lottery system is often utilized at ticket outlets when a popular event goes on sale. This can place the patient fan who would gladly stand in line for hours at the very back of the line. Tickets are sold all at once and generally will be sold out within minutes or hours. For individuals who can not attend the public on-sale event or who are not selected in a lottery, ticket selection will be marginal at best.
